Grade
Stamps
- Each piece of lumber for foundation construction require a permanent
grade stamp by an agency recognize by the American Lumber Standards Committee
and for plywood by an agency recognize by the U.S. Department of Commerce
PS1.
Foundation
Quality Mark - Each piece of lumber and plywood used for the permanent
wood foundation system and required to be treated, must meet the Standard
AWPA-C22, and each piece must bear a permanent Quality Mark indicating
for Permanent Wood Foundation use.
Nails
- Generally, all nails used for permanent wood foundation construction
may be hot dipped galvanized - all plywood connection below finish grade
must be stainless steel type 304 or 316. Connections in knee walls and
brick ledges shall be stainless steel nails. Electroplated galvanized
nails for plywood are prohibited.
All
foundations must be designed.
